Abandoned Settlement Königsmühle
Distance: 3 km

Approximately 2 km southeast of Loučná pod Klínovcem, at an altitude of around 915 m below the source of the Černá voda stream, lies the picturesque abandoned settlement of Königsmühle, also known as the King’s Mill. At the end of World War II, six houses stood here, inhabited by around 50–57 Sudeten German residents who were relocated after the war. Today, visitors can admire only the ruins, surrounded by the beautiful nature of the valley.

The place has a unique atmosphere that combines the silence of the forest, history, and creative energy – over the past ten years, the surrounding valley has been transformed into an open gallery of land art installations. Each year, the Land Art Festival takes place here, where Czech and German artists meet, create, and leave their works directly in the ruins as a permanent part of the site’s genius loci.

In the only preserved building, there is a valley shelter managed by the doKrajin association – equipped with a stove, table, benches, and facilities for overnight stays or refreshments. Access is only possible on foot: from the village of Háj, an approximately 1.5 km-long old ravine of a former trade route from Bohemia to Saxony leads to the settlement, now lined with blueberries and rowan trees, with ravines up to 3 m deep.
